So Sunday I wasn't planning on doing much, but instead I went to se the famous painter Reuben's house in the city center. IT WAS GORGEOUS!! Then Elizabeth, Masha and I met up with some other people from the box and went to the river and just sat and sunbathed for an hour or so! Afterwards we got pizza and wine, and went to an off the beaten path square near the center of Antwerp, where there is always an excellent musician playing, so we ate and listened to this amazing clarinet player for a while until he left.
THEN, another group of people randomly joined us and we sat around a really old fountain and sang some classic songs together until around 10pm when we finally went home! It was TRULY an experience!
So now the following are photos of Rueben's house and a video by Masha on youtube with some footage from the day! REALLY CHECK IT OUT!

First Week in Antwerp part 4
So, on the weekend something very exciting happened, I was invited by the interns that work at Walter van Beirendonck to his collaborative exhibiton with Austrian artist Erwin Wurm preview at the Middelheim Museum! I thought it would be just a sort of come and go thing, but instead it was an actual event, the designers and artists were there, and a lot of the workers from all of the companies in Antwerp!! So Walter was there, and I saw An and Fillip and greeted them as they left. Everyone was there, and the food was delicious! It was my first real swanky art event! The following are photos from the exhibition and from other pieces in the park.
if you look very closely in this image you can see Walter,he is the turquoise splotch in the middle...

First Week in Antwerp part 2
view of the harbor
This is a photo I took of the walk from Del Haize, the supermarket where I buy my groceries, to the harbor. Alina, Raphael, Katrin and I went there to buy beer and snacks to eat chill out after work.
This building was used to store goods that were imported from other countries by boat.
It was also particularly weird for me to drink beer out in public like it was just a can of coke or something, but it is legal in Belgium.
First Week in Antwerp part 1
So, I decided I would only post once a week now, so that I can write about the main points of each week instead of having nothing to write about each day. But, this week was very important, it was a week for building friendships and relationships with people, although some of them are leaving quite soon. However, I'm happy that the people I live and work with are becoming more comfortable with me, as well as me becoming comfortable with them. The floor I live on in the LAP is full of friendly and interesting people, and I mean interesting in a nice way! Life in the AF office is also feeling more like a family, everyone gets along quite well and is very friendly, including the designers An and Fillip. The interns, and I, as well as Alina, the assistant designer, have gone for drinks this week and gotten to know each other on a more personal level which is also quite nice, so we are all friends now, not just co-workers. Unfortunately though Katrin, one of the interns finished her time on the team this week, but we had a party where we all got to mingle with everyone that works at AF. Now I will fill everyone in with photos and links for everything I experienced this week.

FIRST DAY!
Today was my first day at my A.F. Vandevorst Internship. I really didn't know what to expect, I was about 15 minutes early, and no one was there, until finally at exactly 9:00am An and Filip arrived in their very nice and expensive vehicle. I was just waiting outside, it was full of awkwardness. However, they are incredibly nice, as was everyone working there!
Then I was introduced to the coffee maker, which makes AMAZING coffee!
But the most interesting part of today was that I was appointed to help find inspiration images for an opera that AF will be costuming. An OPERA!!! I must be in the right place, also another indicator of why I'm in the right place is that my next task was to fold a gazillion pages for AF booklets, but as I was putting them together there was a two page spread that had editorial shots of some of their work, paired with other designers.
And what other designers were they paired with? OHNE TITEL!!! Now I know that my best friend Eliza is with me wherever I go, she is an intern there this summer. It was such a coincidence that I couldn't help but smile and laugh.
OHNE TITEL!

Exploring the City
Today I went for a little walk around the neighborhood, and scoped what will be my new daily trek to work.
The doors to the office
Then I went and ate at a sweet little Italian restaurant and took a photo of the view!
More exploring to come in the future...

When I arrived we all sat around the dinning table and chatted for quite a while.
